Natural Awakenings Magazine
(naturalawakeningstriangle.com)
Michael LeGrand, editor, bought the triangle franchise

• Staff contracted out. Publish monthly
• National magazine with about 70 different branches (franchising)
• Nationally-oriented articles with local flavor. Local news briefs and articles, local business advertising.
• Try to contribute to the community. “Heart of the triangle” features non-profits around the community
• Many articles come from advertisers.
• Looking for 1 or 2 interns to start in the near future. Contact publisher, Dee Whitaker. Call with interest
• Benefits: Lots of hands on experience (current intern, Sarah has had her articles printed), get to know the community, events, interests, etc.
• Need sales people to expand the magazine.

“Push through the self-imposed barrier and take a chance. It’s worth it.”

“If you never take that first step, you won’t have the opportunity for the pieces to fall into place”.”

“Whatever it is you do, you’ve got to sell yourself or something.”

“Anybody can write— all you have to do is find an editor to make it readable.”

Let others learn from your experiences—write.
