We are a UNC branch of Ed2010 (Ed2010.com) which posts tips on resumes, thank you notes, and internships from real editors. Posts internships on their website.
We are a networking club
This summer, CAFME created the Intern Diaries Blog: cafme.blogspot.com
Plans for this year:
Fall Editor Tour. Every week an editor from a local magazine will speak to the group about their publication, what it’s like working there, how to get involved in the industry. Great way to get an internship!
Spring highlights/trips:

• Pace Communications- Meet the staff members and network.
• Printing company- See how it’s all put together.
• Intern Queen (possibly).
• Possible New York Ed2010 trip.

Meetings: every Wednesday at 8:00 pm
No strict attendance policy
JAFA: Fall Break trip to DC to meet with industry professionals. Applications are due September 17 and are available online at jomc.unc.edu
CAFME involved with First Amendment Day…submit ideas!

• Carolina’s only satirical publication
• Publish twice a semester
• Looking for staff writers, editors, photoshoppers, funny people
• In the process of getting social media up
• First meeting Wed. (September 8) in Murphy (look for a sign indicating which room)

Lambda

• LGBTQ publication
• Publish twice a year
• Focus on entertainment and serious pieces
• Seeking female writers on queer issues, photographers, graphic designers
• Interest meeting next Tuesday, September 7th at 7:00 at Alpine/Union

The Siren

• Feminist perspective magazine
• Publish twice a year
• Focus on issues regarding feminist politics, perspectives. Lots of interest pieces
• Looking for photographers, graphic designers

Passport

• Submissions from study abroad students
• Looking for submissions from international students
• Looking for copy editors and designers

• Submission deadline is September 13 at midnight

HerCampus.com

• Online magazine
• MyCampus—HerCampus UNC
• Looking for writers and photographers
• Covers style, dorm life, careers nationally
• Covers Campus cutie, campus news, campus events, campus celebrity locally
• Writers rotate sections, submit a story once every week or two
• Everyone is responsible for publicity

• Covers fashion, accessories, health, beauty, fitness
• Publish 4 times a year, fashion show twice a year
